Health Care Furnishings

The Cox Collection from Tuohy is a program for modular seating and tables, uniquely credible by its applicability in public waiting areas or in private offices when presented as freestanding pieces. Designed by Brian Cox, the collection includes two design stylizations, each in a series of modular and freestanding arm chairs, lounge chairs and a full array of occasional tables.

KI's Perimeter® resin edges are available in three different styles: hard high gloss, matte soft and matte very soft. The softer edges are especially ideal for health and educational environments or other applications where tables are moved extensively as edges will not damage as a result of frequent changes in room arrangement.

Shelby Williams introduces a new rocker especially designed for patient rooms and life care lounge areas. Maximum patient comfort is assured by flame retardant Pyroguard® foam padded seat and back. Designed with a Sani-space opening between the seat and the back to facilitate cleaning of the seat.

An exciting new look on a timely design, Athol presents Café, the upcoming latest addition to its complete line of coated textile upholstery for all contract applications. Fresh and fun, all Athol products meet required seating specifications and stain/wear resistance performance. Samples are available.

Crypton Super Fabric® from Hi-Tex, Inc. provides an alternative to vinyl. Available in a multitude of fabulous designs and colors, this breathable fabric brings new life into high abuse seating areas like nursing homes and restaurants. Crypton is moisture proof, anti-microbial, anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, highly stain resistant and exceptionally durable.

From L & B/ Empire -- long known as a comprehensive seating supplier -- comes a series of universal access tables featured in the company's Pro-Med collection. L & B's design staff can create realities from the images of designers' minds.

The torno collection from Fixtures Furniture unites the natural beauty and warmth of solid oak or walnut with the strength of steel; seats and steel-reinforced legs are supported by a steel construction cross. Wood modules are ideal for health care or geriatric use where strength and stability ensure safety. Torno is available in sulfide stain resistant vinyl.

Makita U.S.A.'s Automatic Drapery Opener system allows patients control of their environment at the touch of a button, leaving the nursing staff with one less task and more time for additional responsibilities. Brushless design means no sparks, thus no fire hazard in rooms with oxygen. A three-year warranty is offered.

Duratex[TM]/6 and Duratex[TM]/7 are two complementary collections of Maharam's Duratex[TM], a health care standard for cubicle curtain fabrics. Duratex/6 includes 10 solids, three utilizing a space-dyed yarn that produces a unique tone-on-tone effect. Duratex/7 offers a broad selection of beautiful, multi-colored designs. Shown are Game Board and Dominoes, playful patterns for pediatric use. All patterns are 72 inches wide and woven of 100 percent Trevira FR.

Durkan provides designers of health care facilities and nursing homes the ability to combine solution-dyed broadloom with coordinated printed design borders to achieve visual and textural interest in installations once dominated by the usual solids and tweeds. Carpets in this new program are available with Durkan's exclusive Duralon backing with moisture barrier as an added benefit in health care settings.
